The RPS Community Education Advisory Council (CEAC) offers mini-grants of up to $1,500 per project to support novel learning initiatives involving young people through student clubs and community non-profits. Renewal for a second year is possible.

These grants are designated for projects that extend learning opportunities beyond regular school hours. We value diversity across age, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, and economic background, and we enthusiastically welcome proposals catering to varied audiences.

The council evaluates all applications received and actively encourages youth from our community to engage with us, sharing their experiences. CEAC grants aim to empower any youth-focused community group by providing resources to launch new endeavors, foster unique creations, and explore innovative concepts.

Our grants have supported a wide array of initiatives, including outdoor classrooms, community resource rooms, empowerment activities, robotics clubs, and youth development workshops. We encourage any project fostering learning experiences to apply for funding.

Applications can be submitted at any time with a rolling deadline of the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Start your application today at: https://www.rochesterce.org/o/ce/page/ceac

Case Study #1

Sister Save Sisters is a club at John Marshall HS that fosters a culture of mutual support among girls, emphasizing the importance of academic focus and equipping them with essential life skills for future success. Under the guidance of mentor Crystal Smith, the group collaborated with CEAC to facilitate registration and accommodations for the YU Confab. With CEAC's support, funds were allocated to ensure that five girls and their chaperones could participate in the two-day conference.

During the event, the girls had invaluable opportunities to engage in one-on-one sessions with industry professionals, leaders, and mentors. They also participated in hands-on demonstrations that illuminated clear pathways towards higher education.

Case Study #2

The Rocket Boost! Initiative stands as a pivotal program dedicated to cultivating resilience among the student body at John Marshall High School. Its primary objective is to introduce an array of techniques and experiences that contribute to the holistic development of students, emphasizing the enhancement of physical, mental, and social well-being. This year-long initiative, strategically conducted during lunch recess, served as a cornerstone in fostering a stronger sense of belonging within the school community. The program curated an assortment of engaging activities, including sessions with Dog Therapy, the Red Bar Farm Mobile Unit, a Body Positivity Photoshoot, Group Art projects, and invigorating Drumming sessions. These diverse activities were intentionally designed to empower students, instill confidence, and promote a supportive environment where each individual could thrive academically and personally. https://www.smore.com/3x4v2
