Rochester Elementary Schools Safe Routes to School Project
Minnesota Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is a statewide effort to make it safe, convenient, and fun for all youth to walk, bike, and roll to school and in daily life. Walking or biking to, from, and during school is an easy way for students to get exercise, stay healthy, and arrive at school ready to learn.
The City of Rochester has been awarded planning assistance from the Minnesota Department of Transportation to create a SRTS Plan for Bamber Valley Elementary, Bishop Elementary, Churchill | Hoover Elementary, Elton Hills Elementary, Folwell Elementary, Franklin Elementary, Gage Elementary, Gibbs Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Lincoln K-8, Longfellow Elementary, Overland Elementary, Pinewood Elementary, Riverside Central Elementary, Sunset Terrace Elementary and Washington Elementary.
The plan will be developed throughout the 2024-2025 school year. Once complete, the plan will provide direction and recommendations for improving walking and biking for Rochester Elementary students.
