The Technovator Design Team is a group of Rochester Public Schools (RPS) educators from around the District who are versed in technology and support the learning needs of students and the workflow/efficacy of educators. This Districtwide team, comprised of individuals who teach at various grade levels, works together to design learning experiences, create professional development that leverages technology to support teaching and learning, and integrate technology into teaching practices across RPS. 

This initiative aims to put students at the center of their learning experiences by enhancing student engagement, collaboration, and learning outcomes while empowering educators to harness the full potential of technology in the classroom. They cater to individual student needs while keeping pace with the ever-evolving digital world. This approach encourages active participation, critical thinking, and engagement; paving the way for more comprehensive learning experiences; and elevating deeper learning. The Districtwide collaboration seeks to develop teamwork of ideas, allowing educators to share their successes and challenges with integrating technology, and fosters a collaborative environment that bolsters innovation and effective teaching practices throughout the district.

One way staff can seek advice or support with technology is through the "Ask a Technovator" program. This program connects educators struggling with specific technological tools or platforms with experienced Technovators who have successfully navigated similar challenges. This peer-to-peer support network promotes collaboration and shared learning among educators, ensuring seamless technology integration. The work of Technovators has also helped foster cross-cultural communication by enabling students to connect with classrooms and experts beyond Minnesota and outside the United States. This global perspective enriches students' understanding of different cultures and prepares them for a connected and diverse world. 

The Districtwide transition from site-based Technovators to the Technovator Design Team, signifies a strategic move better to serve student’s and staff's evolving technological needs. Consolidating expertise enables the creation of resources and professional development that resonate throughout the district, promoting consistent and impactful technology integration. The Technovator Design Team's dedication to innovation, collaboration, and student-centered education promises to shape the future of learning, preparing students for the digital age, and beyond.
