School Nurse Day Highlight: Janyce McHale

May 8 is National School Nurse Day, and we're celebrating by highlighting some of our school nurses throughout the day. Janyce McHale, LSN, works at Dakota Middle School.

Why did you choose to work in a school setting versus a clinical setting?

I like the work schedule that allows me to work during the day.

How do you feel you contribute to student success as a school nurse?

Listening to the students and asking questions to help them think about not only what is happening at that moment but also about the big picture and the future.

What’s your favorite part of your job as a school nurse?

Interacting with the students, their parents, and staff. Coming together as a team to help students grow, develop, and work on creative thinking skills.

What do you wish people knew about your job as a nurse?

I wish people would let nurses know they are appreciated for all they do!

Thank you to Janyce and all of our school nurses!
