Rochester, MN. – Rochester Public Schools is celebrating Walk & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. In its 29th year around the state, the idea is simple: develop important opportunities to encourage physical activity and promote safety in neighborhoods and near schools.
Sunset Terrace Elementary School will participate in Walk & Roll to School Day by celebrating the students who walk to school year-round and the crossing guards who keep them safe along the way. The event will run from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
Sunset Terrace Elementary students, parents and caregivers, and Rochester Public Schools staff will depart from St Luke's Episcopal Church, 1884 22nd St NW, Rochester, MN 55901, at 7:30 a.m., with the Rochester Police Department encouraging them along their route. Media is welcome to join walkers along the route on 19th Ave or at the entrance to Sunset Terrace at 7:45 a.m.
Neighboring homes are encouraged to remember to keep sidewalks clear, creating a safe route for people who walk, resulting in a safer community overall.
This event is supported by Rochester Public Schools, Olmsted County Statewide Health Improvement Partnership, and the Rochester Police Department.
