Erin Vasquez is the Community School Coordinator at John Marshall High School. Erin is a former RPS student who attended Lincoln, Lincoln at Mann, Willow Creek Middle School, and Mayo High School.
Why did you choose to work at RPS after attending RPS?
I was committed to staying in Rochester after I gradated to remain close to family. I chose to work at RPS because I had very positive experiences as a student, and both of my parents were educators for RPS.
What’s your favorite part about your RPS job?
The students! They are so much fun, smart, interesting and doing amazing things. I also love all of the members from our community I get the privilege of interfacing with.
What’s a challenging part of your RPS job?
Meeting the needs of all students and families.
What is one thing that is noticeably different about RPS today than when you attended as a student?
Hands down, the diversity. I love it!
What aspect of RPS are you happy to see hasn’t changed since you were a student?
Amazing staff who love and care about their students.
Who was an RPS teacher that had a positive impact on you and why?
So many, but I will say Gerri Ferdinande - she loved to laugh, fully believed in all of us, and was really into building community within our classroom.
What about your RPS education would you attribute to getting you where you are currently?
Watching educators work really hard for students and families. I also participated in lots of school activities which I think gave me invaluable experiences.
