Hey, RPS high schoolers! Did you know you could make $15/hour and get elective credit toward graduation by working with our School Aged Child Care (SACC) program? See the image for more information.

Is your 16+ year old interested in making $15/hour and getting elective credit toward graduation? They can sign up to work at School Aged Child Care (SACC) with our elementary schools! A few things to note: Work hours are from 8th hour to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. They can work at an elementary school close to their high school. Applicants must be 16+ and provide their own transportation. Scheduling will depend on their required classes and high school schedule. If their schedule is already full and they still want to work part-time at SACC, have them contact Nate at naschriever@rochesterschools.org. Summer hours are also available! Summer hiring starts in March/April. Students hired must maintain good work habits to remain in the course.  If this interests your student, ask them to see their counselor for details on credits and to explore theirr options. Have any questions about the SACC program? Contact Nate at naschriever@rochesterschools.org.
On Wednesday, September 20, RPS Indigenous families gathered at Dakota Middle School to plant medicinal botanicals. These plants are beneficial to the Indigenous communities that inhabit Minnesota. The Medicine Garden at Dakota was built with the support of The Native American Employee Resource group from the Mayo Clinic and Rochester's Master Gardeners. To learn more about this garden, read our story here: https://www.rochesterschools.org/article/1346089.

The Community Education Advisory Council is a group of volunteers that provide input on community education programming. They periodically invite legislators to learn about our Early Childhood programming that we offer. This time, Minnesota State Representative Kim Hicks came into our classrooms at Hoover Early Learning Center to gain insight into our local early childhood programs and see in person how their support of funding for EC is being put to work.
