Our substitute educators are educational bridges for our students when teachers need to be out of the classroom for any reason. We're grateful for their willingness to step in and help with continuity in the classroom. Thank you to all of our substitute educators!

Did someone say pie? Last week, students and Home Living staff at Rochester Academy for Independent Living (RAIL) had their annual feast of pies! Students were able to participate in the whole process, from making and preparing the pies to choosing what flavor they wanted and enjoying them together, family-style.

It was a beautiful morning for the ribbon-cutting of Longfellow's new solar panels! After the brief ceremony, some of our students, faculty, and community members in attendance got to go onto the roof to view the new panels. Thank you to all those who attended and to Ideal Energies for the installations!
These solar panels were made possible by grants from the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

Dear RPS Community, I am writing to share some thoughts on the referendum that was narrowly defeated last week... My main message is this: if Rochester wants to provide all its young people with the caliber of education that will enable them to succeed in the economy and in the society in which they will live their lives, additional funding for our school district is urgent and essential.

RPS’ Student Nutrition Services purchased over 15,000 apples from Rochester’s own Apples R Us to provide local apples to our students throughout November. Our schools will enjoy these apples as a fruit option for breakfast or lunch throughout the month. Students, grab a fresh apple with your meal!

Having diverse educators in our classrooms benefits all of the students we serve, especially those from underserved communities who often don't see educators who look like them during their time in school.
Through Grow Your Own, RPS is working to increase and support the number of educators of color in our District.
Join us for an information session this Thursday at 4:30 p.m. to learn more about the Grow Your Own opportunity!
